Penrith, NSW. Oct 10th: Results Premier Mixed: 5th (Major Final)
When I jumped in the boat at the Penrith Regatta Day, it was only my 9th time in a Dragon Boat so I was quite nervous before my first race that day. I was trying to remember everything George had taught me at the few sessions that I’d had, the quick strokes at the start, straight arm catching the water, keeping up with the front paddler…my head was spinning. So I thought just calm down and do your best then suddenly just before the start, all the girls lent forward?? No one had told me about this…ok better do this too…phew! I did not stuff up the start. And then suddenly the race was over…It was not too bad after all. I really enjoyed it and was looking forward to racing again. Little did I know that this was the 1stof 7 races that day. I arrived home that night feeling quite content and happy as if I had achieved something big. And up until now my muscles are still recovering from my new adventure in life. Yours in Dragon Boating,
Some other notables from the day's racing:
