The Roseville Regatta was held last weekend and what a day it was! Beautiful sunshine, adrenaline pumping races, even a few collisions!
The day dawned with a mist filled sky, but this soon cleared up with the sunshine filtering through to warm everyone up.
First race of the day was the DSA Premier Mixed Team. We got off to a flying start - unfortunately right into another boat, so we were penalised with a 10min race time. The second heat for DSA produced much better results - first place with a time of 2:03.22. It was very exciting to surge ahead of the other boats.
Though DSA were involved in the first crash of the day, my theory is that there was something in the river upsetting the boats (think the Australian Nessie). There were plenty more collisions and boats running off course throughout the day. It made for very entertaining viewing!

The Premier Open Division is always a tough one - with other clubs filling their teams with mostly men, DSA's Open team has a 50/50 split between men and women. Despite being up against some huge beefcakes, DSA had race times of 2:07.85 and 2:07.65. A fantastic effort, and far ahead of the the slowest time of 2:48.72 (though I do believe that team might have gotten stuck in the mangroves).

Now onto the women's team. Once again, DSA clearly won the 16 paddlers division! It's very hard to compare our race times, when all the other boats have a full crew of 20. We just need a full boat, and we could win the division - so ladies get yourself to some races!
