When you first meet DSA, you read that it is a small friendly club, which balances social fun with competitive spirit. It only takes a few dates with DSA to see that they absolutely deliver on this promise...

To be fair, the first few dates were at times awkward... splashing and even clashing paddles...and the ultimate Dragon Boat faux pax - having to climb over everyone to get to the novice back seat! But the charm of DSA shone through...the camaraderie between the newbies, the banter between the ol' timers. The energy from the recent World's paddlers could still be felt. The pro paddlers gladly share their wealth of knowledge, each with their own spin on achieving the best technique. Forever supportive.

So it isn't a great surprise that the first race of the season @ Roseville was attended by so many fresh faces... eager to experience the thrill of race day for the first time!

The girls put in 100% and won the "16 paddlers only" category, however with (alot of) room for improvement in the overall Womens heats. The boys were entrepreneurial and partnered with another club in order to compete in the Mens heats. Whilst the Mixed team raced some incredibly close and exciting heats, making it to the minor finals!

Race day inspires you to achieve that perfect unison in paddling - where powering through the water looks like an effortless glide. It fuels your competitive spirit because you want to be that boat that surges in front to the finish line. Race day is also a day for laughter and the simple appreciation of good company.

So enough of dates with DSA. It's time for long term commitment; membership forms now signed, sealed and delivered!
