Results
Women's Crew: GOLD (Major Final)
Mixed A Crew: 5th (Major Final)
Men's Crew: 4th (Major Final)

When one suggests a novelty race, personally I think of the egg and spoon race, the three-legged race or the sack race. As novel as it would be to attempt any one of these in a dragon boat, they make 10s racing look and sound much better than it actually is.
Racing without and against, our Aus Masters members, Team DSA entered a women’s crew, an opens crew and two mixed crews into the first race of the season. On what turned out to be a beautiful day DSA put together some great races.
With the Mixed A team hitting the 10s water first in round 1 cruising into 1st position, followed by Mixed B with a 4th place finish.
Next out of the blocks were the women, with the hot competition of the Aus Masters, followed by the opens, which finished their first race ahead of their competition.
Round 2 results were consistent with round 1, both the Mixed A and the Women’s crew stepping it up a notch and edging ahead of their main competition – the Aus Masters and setting themselves up for the finals.
With some sly “tactics” from the DSA sweeps, each crew was set up perfectly for a great race. Mixed A had it tough in the A final, finishing a close 5th, with Sandy Point taking home the cup.
The women were up next, and with the assistance of the loud drummer, they didn’t even need to “take it home” as they were already there. Annihilating their competition by a boat length in a time of 1:15:97.
The last race of the day was the Open’s final, with another tough race, the boys fought hard, with CYL taking out the honours, and DSA finishing a close 4th, with a time of 1:12:54.
A big thank you to Tsunami for organising a great race day, and for letting one of our Hawkesbury crews hold a fund raising BBQ! Thank you to the team captains for your leadership and organising skills and words of wisdom when needed. Last but definitely not least, huge pat on the back and other props go to all the DSA paddlers for the results.
