2nd September 2018
Paddling, not only in my first dragon boat regatta of the season but for the first time with my new club DSA. This was an experience that left me smiling and excited throughout the entire day. The DSA crew that I have trained with over the last 12 months are not only supportive and committed to this sport but are competitive, fun and are always there to advise, encourage and lend a hand. With our teams competing in Premier mixed, Senior B mixed, Premier Women and Premier Open categories, and working together as a team, we placed in our heats throughout the day. This led to competing in three finals with the Senior Mixed category taking out the gold. I was part of that team and exuberant to say the least!. This was my first medal in six years of paddling. The feeling of crossing the line in first place, was not only magical but an unforgettable emotion I will always cherish, as evident from my ear to ear smile. I am now able to tick a gold medal achievement off my bucket list. Thank you to all the amazing souls that make up the DSA club. Special thanks to our supporters, drummers, sweeps and captains who made this day possible . Oops! I can’t forget our truly competitive and at times screaming but encouraging coach George, who could not be there in body but whose presence was felt. Looking forward to our next Regatta.
